Learning how to apply make-up can be extremely daunting. We know there are all different types of products and they go on our face… but how?… and where?
When beginning to learn about make-up most of us will watch lots of make-up tutorials that can often be very confusing as you don’t know the techniques or how to apply them. In most tutorials about make-up you will hear the term contouring and highlighting used a lot. Both of these make-up techniques are used to accentuate your face shape and your facial features…. Sounds confusing but don’t run away just yet… I am here to help you learn about contouring and highlighting, and make applying make-up so much easier and stress free.
So what is contouring? Contouring is when you use a make-up product such as a concealer, creme or bronzer powder that is slightly darker than your skin tone to define and shape your face.
What is highlighting? Highlighting complements contouring, by using a concealer or highlighter that is a lighter shade than your skin tone. Highlighting will accentuate the areas of your face that catch the light naturally.
Now that you have a better understanding of the techniques watch Tina Yong’s make-up tutorial How to Contour for Beginners! Tina’s tutorial is fantastic and will help beginners learn more about make-up or if you just want to brush up on your skills.
